ALEX AND TANYA’S WEDDING AT THE DICKENS INN IN LONDON  

Tanya and Alex had the most beautiful autumn wedding at the Dickens Inn in Central London. The bridal preparations started at the Tower Suites, located just a 5-minute walk from the Inn. The Tower Suites is most definitely at the top of my list for recommended places to get ready if you are getting married near Tower Bridge. The rooms are chic and large, with plenty of natural light. The morning preparations were chilled, with Tanya and her bridesmaid having fun whilst getting ready. Hair and makeup were done pretty fast, and we are an hour ahead of schedule. Alex was in another room at the hotel with his groomsmen, getting suited before heading out to the Inn. The photos of the preparations look stunning.  

THE CEREMONY AND CONFETTI

We walked from the hotel to The Dickens Inn for the ceremony. All the guests had arrived on time and had their pre-wedding drinks at the downstairs bar. The ceremony went beautifully with lots of tears and laughter, especially during the reading of the vows. Unlike many wedding venues in ‘London, The Dickens inn is amongst the few that allow confetti to be thrown indoors partly due to the council not allowing confetti on the docks where the pub is located. So after signing the register, we asked the guests to stand in the aisle with confetti in hand.

THE RECEPTION

The reception started with the welcome drinks being served at the bar downstairs, along with canapes. Next, we spent a few minutes taking family photos on the docks, followed by a couple’s portrait at Tower Bridge. We then headed back upstairs for diner and speeches. The first dance tops the list of the top 10 dances I have ever photographed.
Here are a few of my top tips if you are planning your wedding at the Dickens Inn:
– Chose a nearby hotel to get ready as traffic around the Tower bridge is always dense.
– Brides should plan to arrive on time at the Inn and not early as there is nowhere to wait in and around the pub.
– Plan to have confetti photos. Allow for a longer time for group photos and couple’s portraits as the docks can get pretty busy.
